I’ve been tutoring for almost 30 years now and have worked with hundreds of students while living in three different countries: the US, Argentina, and Mexico. Each student holds a special place in my heart. We have laughed and cried together, rejoiced when a challenge is overcome, and for me, getting to know each of these individuals has been a treasure and privilege that I would never take lightly.

One-on-one tutoring is the best methodology to use when learning, since a student gets personalized help. It is not the same as being in a classroom with other students who are often disruptive, have varied levels, and different needs.

Here at Empalingua, “where empathy meets tutoring”, we have a student-focused approach where our tutors meet the students where they are. I hate to admit that I have heard horror stories from my students who have worked with other tutors who have treated them unkindly, often humiliating them, and a few have come crying to me.

Is this really happening? Unfortunately, it is happening, and I have been a witness to this for years. I´ve also seen students mistreat tutors, and this is not something that I will tolerate from our clients. In other words, it is a two-way street. Our ideal client is motivated to learn, is respectful, and values our services. We have worked with many corporate clients over the years, as well as other students (from older elementary school to college students) who simply want a great value for what they invest in us.

Do you have your tutors secured for the 2025-26 school year?

Just know that the best tutors´ schedules fill up quickly. In my case, I am often contacted by desperate students and parents last-minute to help with test preparation, and oftentimes it is hard to find a time slot for us to meet. Do not let this happen to you and/or your family members.
